Privacy policy
This page explains, in plain language, what information DMCA WatchDog collects and how it's used and protected.
Data collected at registration
When you create an account, we collect your email address and a securely hashed password (we never store your password in plain text — see security). We may also collect a customer or business name to label your account.
Billing data — handled by Stripe
Subscription billing is handled by Stripe, our payment processor. We do not collect or store your full card number. Stripe shares limited account and subscription identifiers with us so we can match your subscription to your account; payment details themselves stay with Stripe under their own privacy and security practices.
Monitoring profile data
To run scans on your behalf, we store the monitoring targets you provide — things like domains, search terms, and URLs you've asked us to watch — and your plan's usage limits.
Scan and finding data
Our scanners produce findings (possible matches) which are organized and held for human review before anything is marked visible to you. Reviewed findings, their evidence snippets, and any case notes you create are stored as part of your account's monitoring history.
Email notifications
If you opt in to email alerts, we send notification emails about reviewed findings and important account events (such as password resets) to the email address on your account. You can manage notification preferences from your account page.
Cookies and sessions
DMCA WatchDog uses a session cookie to keep you signed in and to protect forms against cross-site request forgery (CSRF). We don't use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.
Data retention
We retain account, monitoring, and findings data for as long as your account is active, plus a reasonable period afterward for support, security, and recordkeeping purposes. You can request account closure by contacting support.
Security practices
Passwords are stored using one-way industry-standard hashing, never in plain text. Findings are gated behind human review before being shown to customers. Application configuration containing credentials is kept separate from the codebase and is never committed to version control. See our security page for more.
